Professor Nego / Instrutor Mala / Graduada Sereia
Marcio Silva Andrade, better known in the capoeira world as Professor Nego, was born on September 23, 1980 in Ipatinga, Minas Gerais, Brazil. Porfessor Nego was first exposed to Capoeira when he was 12 years old and instantly felt a deep connection to it. His interest for Capoeira started to grow and, inspired by Mestre Curisco, he began to participate in many rodas and Capoeira events in Brazil.
His love for Capoeira brought him to México in 2000 where, at the age of 20 he founded a Capoeira group and organized the first ever International Batizado and Encounter to take place in Guadalajara. In México Professor Nego learned the value of being able to lead a group and how he could inspire the same type of love for Capoeira in his students that had brought him there.
His journey did not end there; in 2002 he was invited by CM. Lua Branca to come to Vancouver, BC Canada to participate in an International Capoeira Encounter. Vancouver became his new home and he began teaching and training with Contra Mestre Lua Branca.
Training with CM. Lua Branca inspired him to grow in how he played and taught his own Capoeira. Today as a student of Mestre Curisco, Professor Nego leads Grupo Capoeira Malês in Vancouver, BC. He aspires to train strong students and contribute to the coast-to-coast expansion of Capoeira in North America.
